Work package 5: Cross national comparison and policy issues
Compare the specific regional results and link them with the European policies and laws debate in such a way that the results of SoilMan can be useful for policy and decision makers.
Hypotheses
-
Biodiversity of agricultural soils is to be considered in all policies of the European Union including the common agricultural policy
-
Policy development, world trade liberalisation and past farmer’s decisions drive soil management practices
-
Adapted EU and national legal framework and incentive based approaches allow to reduce trade-offs between profitability and soil biodiversity conservation
